Raymond Munnecom

Raymond Munnecom was born on the 19th of april 1968. At the age of 10 he started playing the euphonium with the local windband. For a period of 2 years he joined the National Youth Harmony Orchestra on euphonium.

At the age of 17 he switched to the trombone and one year later he continued his studies with Jacques Banens, former solo-trombone player of the Royal Concertgebouworchestra, at the Maastricht Conservatory.

His final exams however he took in Amsterdam where he also started to play to the basstrombone. Next to his trombone-studies he also graduated as a windband-conductor. In 1995 he was a finalist in the international trombone contest 'Hans Szymaitys' in Aachen, Germany.

Since sept. 1997 he is the basstrombonist of the Royal Concertgebouworchestra. In addition to this he teaches (bas)trombone at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

Because of a scholarship of the Royal Concertgebouworchestra, he was able to study with Rex Martin at the North Western University in Chicago. He also took lessons with Charles Vernon, Michael Mulcahy and Edward Kleinhammer.

In March 2004 Raymond Munnecom organized the Dutch and Danish brass-project for the conservatory of A'dam: He invited Mogens Andresen and the DKDM-brass ensemble of the Royal Academy of Kopenhagen to join the brass-faculty of A'dam. Visiting Kopenhagen by brass-students of A'dam took place november 2005.

Raymond Munnecom regular gives lessons, clinics and masterclasses in Holland and abroad. Next to that he is brasscoach of the National Youth Orchestra and coach of windsections of university-symfony orchestra's from A'dam, Utrecht and Delft.

This year Raymond Munnecom hopes to graduate as a professional school-musicteacher.
