Ivan Meylemans
Ivan Meylemans was born is 1971 in Geel, Belgium. He studied percussion,
piano, trombone and conducting at the “Lemmen Institute”
in Leuven en at the conservatories in Gent and the Hague.

Ivan
has won prizes at many national competitions including the ‘Tenuto’
competition. He has been solo trombonist of the Royal Concertgebouw
Orchestra since 1994.
As a soloist
Ivan has performed with the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Nieuw Sinfonietta,
the BRTN Phiharmoin Orchestra and in 1997 he performed the European
premier of Christopher Rouse’s trombone concerto with the
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin..
Recently
Ivan’s conducting career has gained considerable momentum.
He is a sought after guest conductor by many renowned orchestras
in the Netherlands and elswhere. He has conducted the Collegium
Instrumentale Brugense, Holland Symfonia, the Rotterdam Chamber
Orcheatra, the Beethoven Academy, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra,
Flemish Symphony Orchestra and Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Filharmonie,
the Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic. Next
season he will be guest conductor of the Gelders Orchestra, Brabant
Orchestra, and again the Fiharmonie, the Flemish Radio Orchestrra
and the Rottterdam Philharmonic among others.
In the meantime Ivan has been appointed chief conductor of the
chamber ochestra ‘Collegium Instrumentale Brugense’.
Since 2004 Ivan has been the cover conductor for Mariss Jansons
and in June 2005 he received the ‘Prix de Salon 2005’
which he will use this season to record a CD of the Royal Concertebouw
Orchestra Brass. |
