Peter Masseurs

Peter Masseurs has been principle trompet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 1982. He teaches at the Sweelink Conservatory in Amsterdam. Peter studied at the Academy of Music in Antwerp, Belgium and joined the Royal Marines Navy Band in 1963.


In 1970 he became principle trumpet of the Rotterdam Philharmonic.

He has appeared as soloist with the RCO as well as other orchestras in the Netherlands in J. Haydn - Konzert in E moll, H. Tomasi - Concerto, A. Jolivet - Concerto no 1 en 2, D. Shostakovotsj - Piano concert, B.A.Zimmerman - ‘Nobody knows the trouble I see'

The RCO commisioned a special work for him; Flügelhorn concerto ‘al fondo per l'oscuro' by Willem Jeths.
